Holy day. Autumn in November. A mole.
The 12th of November is a Bahá'í Holy Day commemorating the Birthday of Bahá'u'lláh (1817-1892). A poem "Autumn in November". What kind of animal are you? I'm a mole? Images of downtown at night. Been writing some for my novelette. Sunny and cool here.

*Idea* MY THOUGHTS

Wish I had some. Someday I really need to write about hemorrhoids, andropause and nose-hair. Not today. Although, I must admit, these are fairly safe topics, much more safer than religion.

November 11-12th is the Bahá'í Holy Day: Birth of Bahá'u'lláh.

There is no set way of celebrating the day, but usually the community gets together to celebrate His message. I missed the gathering. *Frown*

One thing to note: each culture within each religious group has its own way to celebrate. Most American Christians send out gifts for Christ's birthday (we give at Ayyam-i-Ha in February) and most celebrate the new year on January 1st (Bahá'ís on Naw-Ruz, March 20-21). Bahá'ís may greet each other with Happy Naw-Ruz/New Year or Happy Ayyam-i-Ha, but usually not merry this or merry that on the other Holy Days.

As for sending me holiday greetings on your Holy Days (that aren't mine) ... that is another issue, quite touchy in fact ... that I'll write about as we approach December.

*Leaf4* WEATHER

*Leaf2* 44º and sunny! *Smile*
*Leaf2* 48º in Jamestown, New York and rain.
*Leaf2* 53º in Petal, Mississippi and cloudy.

A bit cool at my cousin Barbara's and rainy at our cousin Carol's in Jamestown. Here it is crystal clear sun, although why folks would wear short and sandals is beyond me.

Sunshine!

Downtown at night: a dog and a bike; leaves huddling, leaves crumbled; lights on in the stores that are open and the stores that are shut; late shoppers; a young man walking with a cup; the game almost over, 87-52; pieces of paper and tapes on the glass of an empty storefront; under the lamp on the corner: yellow chrysanthemums.

Autumn in November

My eyes gaze behind smoky lenses
hidden by the tint of grey glass, catch
what others miss between tossed hair,
your crossed arms, stiff stance. At a glance
your book's read, your poetry revealed.
Today warm ripples soften your body,
bending like willow, suppliant;
but, what others will see is an oak,
red leaves ablaze and defiant. [163.425]

*Flower2* WRITING

My novelette goes forward s s l l o o w w l l y y. I'm not keeping a daily word count, but at this rate it'll take 6 months. That wouldn't be bad and I did do some writing tonight, about 7 pages worth, but when I went to enter past scenes I only got up to 1,167 words. Argh. The word-processing on computer is yet another pain-in-the-tush. 11/12: Entered 1,309 more, so that makes 2,476 total. I'm guessing I'm up to around 7,200 in total, which is nothing to crow about, but still ... It's something! I bet I could make 30,000 by December 1st if I pushed myself.

A note about rock-paper-scissors, a topic relevant to my theme:

Got done with Komunyakaa - a pleasure. Finished "Women of the Plains" - most of it dreck.

My results were MOLE:

It's easy to recognize the mole personality. For one thing, they have a pasty complexion and are usually seen in late night coffee shop, jazz bars, or underground clubs. To avoid drawing attention to themselves, they favor dark clothing and sunglasses and are the first people to volunteer for the graveyard shift.

Careers and Hobbies: Engineering, Songwriting, Grave digger, Researching; Music, Poetry, Coffeeshops, Designing.

Famous Moles: Bob Dylan, John Lennon.

My friend Hub is an owl and I suspect a good friend of mine is a sea-lion. I'm supposed to hook up with a bat? Hmmmmm.

What I find amusing about this: I did work graveyard shift (hated the hours and working 8 days in a row but did go out dancing most every night and my co-workers were great). I like cemeteries! I tend to not wear flashy clothing. I absolutely love coffeehouses. I write poetry. I can do research but can't imagine engineering. I don't wear sunglasses. Part of me does want to crawl into a hole. Part of me wants to dance. I'm truly part this and part that.

*Gift5* MY LIFE

Friday: Stayed inside most of the day, but went to Henry's in the evening. Saw Sara Anderson and Josh York there which was great. Sara invited us over to Ad Astra to watch a movie on Wednesday followed by a discussion. I'm hoping she shows 'Ma Vie en Rose', one of my fav films that explores sexual indentity from the viewpoint of a 6 year old child, one of the subjects that is taboo in American society.

Saturday: Went to market. Did not buy a pig nor did I speak with any. Saw Kitty by the frozen fish, Nancy and some other folks. If I move from this town I will miss it. If I could just straighten out a place to stay, much would be well.
