Spring Yearnings
I'm yearning for spring,
I'm dreaming of its warm breezes
and the leaves on the trees.1

When I checked my e-mail box, I found a review for "Winter Night Thoughts, which I wrote in December of 2011. The poem talks about the cold and the pain in my knees. It also talks about a late night freeze (I don't remember the freeze) so I guess it hasn't been as cold this year as in 2011. I don't remember much about the weather that year, but perhaps it's because my focus was on taking care of Mom. I seem to notice the cold more this year then in the previous years, but perhaps that is because I no longer have Mom to take care of and I can focus on my own feelings and needs.

I woke up in a good mood this morning, I was (and still am) happy. I want to sing (so it's probably I good thing I live alone). I fixed hot cakes and eggs for breakfast this morning and then I posted the following poem on my Facebook page.

I fixed myself
hot cake and eggs for breakfast.

The first question is
"Why don't my hot cakes
look as pretty
as those my mother made?"

The second question
"How did Mama
avoid breaking the egg yolks
when she turned
the eggs in the skillet?"

Thought of the Day: "Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!" - Sitting Bull

Footnotes
1  I'll post this poem in my port after I decide if I want to make it longer or turn it into a hieku or senryu.
