Over the past few days we have examined faith in depth and love in depth. before going any farther let me make the reader aware that God has a word for these characteristics of a Christian. In fact He classifies them with seven other characteristics He calls them "fruits of the Spirit"' in most translations of the Bible. The fruits of the Spirit are list in Galatians 6: 22 as "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control Over the next few days we are going to take a closer look at some of these. Today we are going to look at patience. Ask yourself this "Does it really get under your skin when a fellow worker continually keeps bringing up the same subject or making the same mistakes? You show them how to do something and as sure as anything they mess it up. When they do you find yourself muttering under your breath with anger. Or does it bother you when you ask your lazy children to help you with something and they ignore you as if they don't hear you? if so you have an issue with patience. In many situations God uses trials to teach us patience. In fact I literally spent a long period of time once praying and asking God to help me develop patience no matter what the cost because I was very impatient. When they advise you never to pray for patience you can trust me that they're right! For a long time after that anything that could go wrong did go wrong. I got to the point that I was begging God to ease the pressure but it kept coming and continued for I don't know how long. Before she died my wife claimed i had the patience of Job however because no matter what happened it didn't bother me. It wasn't my doings though. I had learned to rely on God, the source of faith, love, and patience.
