Death Cannot Stop True Love
Prompt 2: Pick a movie. Replace one of the main characters with an inanimate object. Write a scene that includes this character. ~ Story.

It would not matter what Prince Humperdinck said, for he was clever when it came to spinning his web of lies. It did not matter what he did, even with his army to back him up. Oh, she knew he would try to stop her, to prevent them from being together, but there were so many things he would never understand, never could understand with is narrow-mindedness. She saw that clearly now.

Humperdinck lived for himself, his own selfish greed, for it was all he understood. He knew nothing of what it was like to truly give of oneself. People were property. Love was an illusion, but she knew better.

Westley’s words rang in her ears. Death cannot stop true love. That was all the encouragement she needed to face him, to defy the Prince and get out of this impending wedding.

Buttercup steeled her spine, raising her chin in defiance. Her beloved would come for her. She had learned that the hard way. Losing her faith was the reason she found herself trapped here in this moment, a prisoner in this wretched castle with…him, with a man she did not love, nor could she ever love. Her heart belonged to another, had always belonged to her sweet Westley and he needed to know it.

Nothing could ever make her doubt again. With that confidence burning through her, she marched into the room ready to make him face the truth.

“You can’t hurt me. Westley and I are joined by the bond of love and you cannot track that, not with a thousand bloodhounds, and you cannot break it, not with a thousand swords.”

Buttercup waited, knew he would not take this lightly and had no idea how he would react.

He stood tall, silent, unmoving, not one word escaping his mouth. She tilted her head to the side, staring at the six-foot tall candelabra, wearing on of Humperdinck’s cloaks. “You will have to do. Now it is time to face Humperdinck.”

Buttercup took one last look at her stand-in fiancee and marched out of her quarters, down the dimly lit hall and toward Humperdinck's chamber. With every step she took, the more confidence grew. A sense of powerfulness rushed through her veins. She would make him see. She had to make him see. Her entire existence depended on him letting her go so she would reunite with her one true love.
