Awake
What does the word awake mean to one who is anything but. My life has had somber moments and none more somber than the present.
To be inundated by the chatter of a resident with an intellectual disability. It is in the wee hours on a Sunday where I am awaiting the end of an overnight shift.
I am reminded of the title of a watchtower pamphlet. The title read awake. Was there really any cause to want to be? Especially when I could not buy into the premise of determining who was awake or not. Who am I to judge.
Maybe I am more aware in this setting of work. One person who refused to go back to bed and in the course of writing she goes to shut off a light and she seizes the moment to invite a hug.

The whole scene of this moment reminds of the scene from the Wizard of Oz. Dorothy is on her way in tornadic conditions and impressions
flash by. She is on the way to a place I call "awake" or is it a dream after all. Many of us Wonder, " what will I wake up to in the end?" Time will tell.
