13 Ghosts

I was nine
when 13 Ghosts
came to the movies.
I wore a pink plastic headband
to hold back my curls.
My confirmation dress was satin
with blue and yellow flowers.
You had to wear special glasses
with red and blue lenses
to see the ghosts.
The movie didn't scare me.
I was afraid of the man
in the aisle.
He said he'd give me money
and candy
if I sat on his lap.
I stopped going
to the movies alone.
I still see ghosts.
