"NO VISITORS ALLOWED"
Hospital sign declares
"NO VISITORS ALLOWED,"
when I am admitted
beneath pandemic cloud.

No one in empty room
but me, myself, and I
with thoughts of locust tree
blooming under blue sky.

In place of family,
"beep...beep...beep" throbs machine,
depleting will to live
while trapped in quarantine.

Without social contact,
my spirit starts to slip,
and Charon's little boat
stops by for final trip.

Mortician's van arrives
to cart my corpse away,
as human dignity
is buried here today.
