The simplicity of my day to day.

I’ve had enough
I’m feeling downhearted today. We as a people, worldwide, seem to leap from one crisis to another. It’s as if we can’t get enough of strife, always looking for the next catastrophe.
In my country we have gone from focusing on one drama to another, each one consumed the nightly news to the obliteration of anything else.
First we had the fires which burnt out so much of our country after major droughts had dried out the farms and killed our livestock. We saw nothing else on our televisions and other media for months but visions of burnt, injured native fauna and homes razed to the ground. This designed to depress our nation and to make us feel the world was coming to an end. Things would never recover, climate change was upon us and eventually we’d all die of the heat.
Suddenly it was if that never happened as we progressed into a pandemic. This then filled the news, it was all we heard. One could imagine the fires never even happened. Those homeless thousands whose houses were burnt to the ground were forgotten, we had bigger fish to fry.
Now our attention has been taken away from Covid19, that’s become boring. It doesn’t matter that thousands continue to die daily worldwide. No, our attention, world wide has been overtaken by a death of a man in America, unfairly killed by a law enforcement officer. Each country has taken up the banner and is marching on the streets. Burning and looting is taking place as a protest.
What is happening to us as human beings? The world is turning into a place I’ll be pleased to leave. I thank the fact I’m getting to the end of my life. I don’t like this world any more. We have the attention span of goldfish. When one drama is at last coming to an end we seek more anguish and reasons to despair. We have leaders who no longer unite, but seek to divide.
Stop the World I want to get off!
