Nana
I remember her as a
tick tock knot of grey hair
fastened at the nape
fingers knotted at the knuckles
yet nimble enough to knock
together steel needles
rocking in her chair
talking and laughing
as mittens knitted themselves
that was the knack
I remember
the knitting ticking away
under the clock until
my childhood hands had outgrown
the mittens she made
but the warmth of her remained
I remember
tick tock time takes
nature’s knife and etches
the lines of a life well-loved
how cruel that happiness
leaves such marks
I remember
Nana

Prompt for Week 3 - June 15th

Make a list of 5 words that start with all with the same letter,
and then use these items throughout the lines of your verse.

I decided to go with a silent letter:
knack, knit, knock, knot, knuckles (knife is a bonus word)
