A poem a day keeps the cobwebs off my keyboard.

Complimentary Closing
It’s polite to say
goodbye
before leaving me
with just an
indentation in the mattress
(no, it wasn’t new and neither was I
but now it’s only half a bed
         just me and
         the shape of you)

and a note
scribbled under
“To Do”
on the white board
stuck to the fridge.
It’s a matter of etiquette,
that complimentary closing.
But you left me no regards
no sincerely yours
just
“not yours anymore”
truly.
