 Take Up your cross: Proverbs 1:11&12 I was kind of thrown by yesterdays phrase ;” Lay wait for Blood”. As a reference I found Leviticus 17:11 explaining, that when blood is gone from the body the life of the body is over. So, Proverbs 1:11 is explaining, with that phrase, about an ambush with the intention of violence by causing damage enough for blood to leave the body to cause death. Once again, I find an amazing ability in scripture to give understanding to the smallest detail, when I look for understanding. Now I went on to Proverbs 1:12. This is a serious threat from the voice of someone intending to do extreme violence. The voice seems to imply they can over take any person no matter how innocent or perfect. It’s a cajoling speech intended to convince the listener to join the gang. Giving an impression the speaker can swallow up victims, the same way you would bury someone whole in a pit or grave. Make them die so the speaker can take everything they own. My reference for this moves to Psalms 124. This is a promise and praise psalm for God’s ability and intent to rescue victims. I like the contrast of Psalms124 against the voice of a desperado. As I read down, I think it is a teacher making the voice as an impact to the student.
