A single word of love
A single word of love

A single word of love touches me to the quick
when I am down with despair or disappointment.
Human being can work wonders if he expands
his kindness to include all besides the near and dear.

Many times I hold my breath anticipating antagonism.
Yet, unexpected acceptance of my suggestion or
request fills me with tearful gratitude and gratification.
Am I so frail that I get emotional each time I meet good?

It may be so, for it is so rare to find fine men or women,
and when I meet one, my cognition almost instantaneous.
Too often I come across greed, rudeness, above all selfishness.
I am shaken at the levels of uncouth behavior and mentality.

No one is a saint, I know. A Jesus or a Gandhi is but a star
that shines a while illuminating the globe with their greatness.
Not just a word of love but their entire life is full of compassion
for you, me, the whole world. Can’t we at least dream to emulate them?
