PROMPT March 19th

How are you different now than you were in the year 2010? What have been the most significant changes in your life in the last ten years?

Ten years ago, I had more energy! I was only 66 years old. I suppose the arrival of four more great grandchildren changed the dynamics of the family and my life.
I think I live a life more in the background than in the past. I’ve watched as children changed into adults, celebrating and commiserating their successes and disappointments.
I’ve been fascinated by this change. Instead of being the mother, advisor and confidante these roles have been taken by my children leaving me in another role, one which takes some getting used to.
My husband and I have taken a back seat, but this has allowed me to follow my own interests. Ten years ago I discovered I had a latent talent for story writing, which I continue to improve upon. It takes up much of my time and brain power.
I still exercise daily, walking my usual hour first thing every day before breakfast. However the other sort of exercise which I did for years, gym and group exercise has mainly gone. Although I am a class member of Prime Movers, or as I call them Slow Movers! At least I’m some sort of mover.
