Joyful Biblical Sound
Prompt:
Psalm 89:15-18
15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.
16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
17 For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favor our horn shall be exalted.
18 For the Lord is our defense; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

Explain these verses.

Owl with signature *FlowerY* If the weather continues with rain, snow, sun and heat we will soon see crocus raising their pretty selves out of the ground.

Psalm 89:1 says, "I will sing of the loving-kindness of Jehovah forever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations." Sound and musical expression are a part of worship and communication with God.

I believe the joyful sound is the ancient name of the Lord our God. Yahweh.

Maybe, the horn mentioned is the Shofar. The Shofar is a cleaned out ram's horn which is only able to blow out one continuous note. ( I could be corrected about this but, I think the note blown now may be, in some times and places, from a more modern horn}

[Please be advised this is my opinion:

Sometimes I think a knowledge of Hebrew language and customs is an aide to understanding the Scriptures; both old and new. I strongly believe you should be well grounded in belief of Christ, understanding, and knowledge of New Testament before you study historical Hebrew customs. In all customs we are not suppose to leave the basics God desires in our lives. The fight over customs has been the cause of a lot of blood shed over the years.]

Facts:
The shofar is blown now at the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. It is a call to repentance. The Jewish holidays follow a lunar calendar that causes the holidays to start at different times each year. Rosh Hashanah is also called in Hebrew Yom Teruah and in English The Feast of Trumpets. It may start the seasons of planting in Israel.
