a descent into poetry insanity

Restrictions: None
before the storm
Through my window,
I feel the world pause,
the winds hold,
the trees wait in uneasy
anticipation.

Tonight, the shadow
of Thunderbird hovers,
making the air crackle
and spark, the clouds
roil and loom, the stars
hide their faces.

In the southwest,
the sun peeks below,
shining on Thunderbird's
purple underbelly
before fleeing for dawn.

I still,
holding my breath
with the world for
long minute before
with a mighty flap,
his wings crash thunder,
and his eyes flash lightning,
and I am deafened and blinded
as the storm begins.
