May day, creativity, Moss, delve,Page, window, hide, delve
5-1-2021 Prompt: May Day, the ancient festival of spring,
May Day
Pagan summer holiday
Celebrations on May Day.
Various ways welcome
Spring’s revival awesome
Music, dance and cake
Continue without break
Adieu to dark and cold
Hola to bright and bold.

5-2-2021 Prompt: Intricate

Creativity

I look up at the dome
Or at the wall paintings
Murals or sculpted figurines
What intricate designs!
What colors, creativity and imagination!
Priceless prerogatives of
A Da Vinci, a Michael Angelo
Artists galore, gems of our planet.

5-3-2021 Prompt: Filament

Moss

Gray filaments of moss
hung from the large tree
like serpents coiled
like twining threads
filament after filament
like great creepers
curl around the trunk
defiant, deathless.

5-4-2021 Prompt: Delve
Fascinating

Never a dull moment
delving deep into history
of kings, queens, commoners,
leaders, artists and several,
reveal great feelings
mystique and secrecy.
Man is endlessly unique,
creating, becoming, evolving....

5-5-2021 Prompt: Delta
Delta life

Lush green fields
Tall coconut trees
Ancient temples
Vedic scholars
The silent scenic delta
where the mighty river
meets the Bay of Bengal
midnight ride, listen to fish.

5-6-2021 Prompt: windmill farm and barn
Windmills
The vertical white windmills spinning
like stars on earth, standing tall
and unwavering in the buffeting
south wind to the side of the long
ribbon like country- road, welcome
the visitors to the fields and barn
saying "come, taste the delights of
natural energy, milk of kindness."

Prompt: farm windmill and barn

5-7-2021 Prompt: Page

Happy ending

I was lost in the pages
of that regency romance
of a rake and a maiden.
What pulls to such books
with inconvenient marriages,
cynical men with a sardonic
lift of an eyebrow while she
defies and a happy ending.

5-8-2021 Prompt: what I heard
Imperfect

What I heard was stunning.
How did this come to be?
Could people change
after years of togetherness?

Love is not love that fades
midway in life.
Endless mistakes
repenting in leisure.

5-9-2021 Prompt: Listen up

When the kid cried.

"Listen up" said the ranger.
"A man-eater is spotted prowling
around the village and the fields.
You got to listen to its stealthy steps."

Even as he talked, it jumped from the bush
snarling and snapping at the small crowd.
The little kid left behind cried and cried loud.
The streaked one, came, saw and left, confused.

5-10-2021 Prompt: Write a window poem
Every dawn

The wakeup call comes
through the grilled window
every dawn at exactly four.

The well tuned cuckoo
sings sweet and soothing
so the world may shed sloth
and rise to the glorious sunrise
filled with a new spark of joy.

5-11-2021 Prompt: something in the wind
Delight

The day was hot like live coals
Humidity adds to misery
Sweat pours down the brow
Not a leaf stirs. Silent strife.

Something in the wind changes
its drift and direction.
There's a sudden coolness
Lo! Rain patters down windowsill.

5-12-2021 Prompt: Hide
Hide out

You can't hide forever, she said
come out of the hide out
mix with the crowd.
you don't know what you miss
till you shed shyness.

Look at the sun or the moon,
they make the world happy,
just by coming out smiling.

5-13-2021 Prompt: Apple pie

Soft tangy apples sliced and squared,
flour butter salt and sugar; knead light
work magic with fingers for a
flaky, golden brown crust-mix.
Bake till the crust is golden, the filling bubbly.
With a scoop of butter, or ice cream even better?
Timeless apple pie, the classic favorite
A sure way to a special someone’s heart and soul.

5-14-2021 Prompt: Complex

Manifold

Too many things happening
I hope not to lose control.
Simultaneous but simple problems
appear complex, keep my mind alert.

Clean, cook, write, go, fetch, arrange.
Answer the door, phone, and social media.
Pay tax, bills laundry milk and mangoes

The tree is full of fruit, time I called the picker.

5-15-2021 Prompt: Sang, Tang, Boomerang
Practice

Unless the notes are in place
and without hours of practice
the song will boomerang.

Remove the tang
from the vocal chords.
It intrudes into the harmony.
Sing for a musical feast, not a farce.

Our teacher insisted on the basics.

5-16-2021 Prompt: Clang, sprang, fang

Confined
The vendor clangs the bell
pushcart trundles down the road
variety vegetables on wheels
right before the doorstep.

Neighbors spring up from indoors
to buy food and gossip more
a rare sight these days
scared stiff of the wily virus’ bared fangs.

5-17-2021 Prompt: Metronome
I can't stop

I have a metronome, a small one.
It changed my tempo and beat
through and through.

I never thought precision
could be at the beat and
rhythm of this little master.
Step in to follow its dictates
or else it leaves you behind.

5-18-2021 Prompt: Sway-Docile-Ease
In my favor

Belligerent I can't be,
shouldn't be actually.
Docility is fine to a point
not beyond.

What then am I at ease with?
A cross between the two
might sway the odds
in my favor.

5-19-2021 Prompt: Write an eight line poem with eight words in each line.

Wind in her hair, light in her eyes
bike and girl merge like body and soul.
Rows of shiny silver birches fronting the forest
Long white ribbon-like road entices the traveler.

Make your song of life, love and dreams
Tears of yesterday bother no more, let go.
Seize the chance of embracing today that smiles
tender, sweet, inviting, taking care of our tomorrow.

5-20-2021 Prompt: Write about something very small.
Simply small

Sometimes small is super,
fits well, fare forward in fun
I smile thinking of my little gift
igniting memories, not distant.

The mini key chain with an e-game,
made my leisure one of pleasure.
Two little boys playing ball,
great fun pressing buttons.

5-21-2021 Prompt: Let It Be
Lessons

If they ask us
to stay indoors,
if I shouldn't go
visit near and dear
let it be, let it be.

If nature decides
to teach a lesson
let it be, let it be.

5-22-2021 Prompt: National Bike Month

Of bikes and brakes

I turned the corner sharp
saw a car speeding up
panicked and braked.
Hubby running close
Got me and the bike
from somersaulting.

I still go biking if only
to air body 'n' mind.

5-23-2021 Prompt:
My Ambrosia

It took time to fall in love
with Dr. Fuhrman's salad,
bringing radical changes
to my food habits and health.

I glean the benefits and blessings
of mother nature's bounty by using
vegetables and fruits of varying hues
the way they should be, the way I need.

5-24-2021 Prompt: Picture of “Time”

Time and Space.

Like a marathon runner
tireless time moves on.
Relentless, resilient, remorseless,
linear, limbless, limitless.

The space I need finally,
is six feet, more or less.
So why should I squabble
losing peace over this and that.

5-25-2021 Prompt: Chewy

kindred

He found it chewy
half the plant was chewed off.
I heard the champ,
ran out to shoo it away.

That was an odd goat,
ambled out of the herd.
The shepherd just stared
chewing on his blade of grass.

5-26-2021 Prompt: Wake me up

Finding light

Wake me up
if I am lost in a dream.

Bring me back
to the world of realities

Wake me up
to a dark night dawning

Keep waking me up
till I find the light of wisdom.

5-27-2021 Prompt-Photo prompt of a water spout

When the water spouts.

Incredible like any other
elemental formation
"a whirling column of air and mist"
fair weather water spout
sometimes poses no threat.

Like small-scale domestic skirmishes
they rise when the chemistry goes
awry and simmer down to dissipate.

5-28-2021 Prompt- Hardly-Top- Dread

Exemplary

The dreaded hand of fate
has no place in his plans.

Ever on top he considered
what practically matters.

Hardly lent an ear to gossip,
praise or criticism.

What else do you need
to make life lively and joyful?

5-29-2021 Prompt: "And look upon myself and curse my fate," from Sonnet 29.

Fate or Free will?

If I stumbled and fell on the stairs
it was not the fate, let's be fair.

Nothing's predetermined
as fatalists maintained.

I have learnt not to fly high
nor sink to ground and sigh.

Instead let me find balance,
become a person of substance.

5-30-2021 Prompt: "..Green Tree makes me deliciously glad"

From "A Seed" by William Allingham

Tree thoughts

The green trees in the garden
sedate and silent, not a burden.
The whispering wind in the branches
admires their smooth deliciousness.
The mistress makes a point to talk
to the garden folks on her daily walk
Those trees teach you and me
stay strong, whatever the weather be.

5-31-2021 Prompt: Devoid

Connecting

Devoid of concerns
over mechanics of language,
connecting with people
living in different worlds
speaking separate tongues
belonging to unique cultures,
is a matter of beauty and value,
for humanity is one big family.
