Divine Intervention

In the chaos and the turmoil
Of struggles that pass
My head bowed to dark soil
My knees in the grass

I beg your intervention
My struggles are too hard
I cannot bear your abstention
From this churchyard

I feel you are present
In the flowers and the trees
In every sound, every scent
In the cool of the breeze

Yet sometimes I need a hand
To save me when I am down
My life is not as I have planned
I have been such a clown

God I know you hear me
As I fast and call out to you
See my sacrifice unto Thee
Make my life brand new
