You Lift Me Up
In this place where you sent me
I swim in sewage, here I'm stuck
In the dark, I cannot see
Everything smells like muck

Voices call all around
Not cries for help just bitter whines
I want to ignore their sound
Their stories are like landmines

Yet then I hear that single voice
The one I am here to find
She speaks wisdom and I rejoice
My eyes open, no longer blind

The muck congeals into the land
Each landmine into a tree
The unclean spirits now are banned
And I walk with her and I am free

O Lord, you lift us up
Into the sunny uplands
We reach out to drink the cup
Offered by your nail-pierced hands
