Lost Souls in Limbo
The underworld is not so desolate as we may think
Death does not drape the bodies in heavy garb
Or empty them with bug infestation
That may be true of some --
Those ones who made life traumatic for others
Will feel the wrath of payback in the underworld
But some kindly souls
Taken before their time
In unforeseen circumstances
that whisked them away before they could
Ask for forgiveness
Ask for saving grace
Are held in limbo
A darkened place
Where they glide over time
Assisting others who come, like them, too soon
Their hearts, though physically gone
still reach out in kind ways --
touching the lighted moth
who singed itself in the glow of too much light
now flits in luminescence
A star in this limbo land
Bringing hope to the lost souls
Who reside in comforted darkness.
