Settings list
Setting: Settings List

(1) Create a list of settings in a format easy to edit and expand.
(2) Add brief descriptions, drawings, images or Google Maps coordinates (find the location on Google Maps/Earth and record the URL) for each.

NOTE: You can revise this list at any time, so this revision is not expected to be fully accurate or complete.

I have somewhat already done this. I do still need to draw a map, but haven't had time to do this yet.

Mertzon is a nearby town. I am thinking of having a couple of things there since Sherwood is supposed to be a small town. Mertzon is larger and contains the county court house.

The other setting I may want to consider is Ruth’s house and the grocery store where she works.

I have imagined pictures of Ruth’s car. I am thinking of looking on Google for a picture of my 2 imaginary horses.

Maybe I can also Google a picture of the church.

The funeral home and cemetery would be settings I may want to describe as well as the hospital.

I think I really need to work on show, don't tell in this novel. Well, I will need to tell some, but I want to take my readers to that place in my mind with me. I want them to feel what Ruth feels, see what she sees, and know life from her perspective.

If you told me I would be doing this when I was a kid, I am not sure if I would have believed you, but I would have thought it was pretty cool. I remember writing a pretend book and giving it to my mom when I was little and told her I wanted to be a writer. I should have followed the dream then, but I was blown off like it was impossible that I would ever amount to anything of importance.
