Don't blink [30 DBC entry]

30DBC November 6 Prompt: You work alone from home, logged on to your work PC. One day you log on, and start your routine. You look at the clock on your desktop and eight hours have passed, but you have no memory of getting any tasks done. Tell us what might have happened to you during those eight hours.


Look a durn fool, I forgot to disable the visual Message Alert on my laptop. I disable it, because I can't figure out how to change the nature of the Alert without messing up the overall settings. When I get a message, a little red light right next to the embedded camera starts flashing at 3 blinks per second. This time, it caught my eye and, before I could make myself look away, I was overcome by what I can only guess was some type of epileptic fit, just like Dr. Leavitt in The Andromeda Strain.

My laptop's battery was fully charged, so I was incapacitated by that little light until the battery died. I'm very glad I hadn't left it plugged in to maintain the charge.
