Joyce Kilmer - 1886-1918
Poetry about a tree.
Was the first to inspire me.

Forget about the rest.
I've always thought he was the best.

I want to be like him.
To master rhyme and rhythm.

Too bad we could never meet.
To have met him would have been a treat.

Someday when I am heaven-bound.
For him, I will look around.

Then of him, I will ask,
Just how he managed his writing task.

Cause he once wrote a poem about a tree.
And it was the first to inspire me.
