The abecedarian poem about poetry
As I weave my words together,
binding them with assonance,
consonance and rhythm,
dabbling in the art of poetry,
everything seems more magical.
Figurative language brings even the
gloomiest scenes and emotions to life,
helping to paint scenes and images.
Imagine a world without poetry...
Jilted hearts and jaded hopes
kept silent, unheard.
Love's beauty too would go unsung,
miracles and magic restrained.
No, let's compose, create,
our lines and lyrics
painting impressions of emotions,
quenching the need to release, rant,
revile or rail at fate.
Satisfaction sneaks in,
teasing us with glimpses of perfection,
ultimately beyond our grasp, but close,
very close.
With poetry, our words become mighty,
xiphoid weapons to wield against foes real and imagined.
Yes, with quiet composure or with spirit,
Zest and zeal... Poetry can be your answer.

Abecedarian. Written 20 September 2014.

Note: Xiphoid means 'sword shaped'.
