A telegram in the mail
conveying the most horrific news.
A father, husband, son,
lost at war.

One little piece of paper
to destroy so many lives.

And yet by the time it arrives
at its destination,
the deed is long since past.
It's just the knowledge that is
fresh and raw.
Agonising.
