Goodbye
A cold fear
that solidifies into an awful knowing.

Gone.

No more chats about your childhood,
shared over a biscuit and a cup of hot chocolate.
No more laughter
over hot, sexy guys on the screen.
No more eye rolling,
or inappropriate comments at inappropriate times.

No more "I love you"s.

No more goodbyes.

As I gather up snapshots,
and see your handwriting scrawled across a page,
the rustle of scrapbooking paper
conjures up memories of hours spent working
and creating a legacy.

It's hard to hide the tears,
and in the end I don't bother.
Grief is honest
and real
and cathartic.

I miss you.
I wish we could say
"Goodbye"
one more time.
