Mama Roach

I’m just waking up to go to work when I hear my wife screaming from the other room. I jump out of bed and run into the kitchen, and see her standing there with a fly swatter in her hand. On the floor is a big fat cockroach lying on it’s back, she’s just hit it with the flyswatter. “Step on it, make sure it’s dead!” she says to me.

As soon as I get close, the roach flips over and starts scuttling away. Obviously, it was only stunned. I grab the fly swatter, swing at it, and miss. I run after it and soon enough I have it cornered, but as I swing the bug flies up at me, buzzing right by my head. I’m startled, I didn’t know we had any of the flying roaches here. The roach lands on a cabinet on the other side of the room. I run over to swat it, but it quickly crawls inside before I get there.

I start taking out everything in the cupboard, cans of food, boxes of cereal, etc, looking for the bug. It’s no use; I can’t find it. It’s probably slipped through a crack into the wall. That roach looked fat, most likely a pregnant female. I’d better go buy a bug bomb, or this place will be swarming soon.
