Love is precious, but it's also difficult, and it has it moments of insanity. |
Writer's Cramp: New prompt: This poetry week we're doing things a little bit different. You may choose out of two forms, instead of one. You may write a poem for each of these forms as well; but only one can win. 1. Write a triolet about a red rose 2. Write a triplet about the nile-crocodile I chose the the Triolet. The triolet is an old French form that is short and witty or more traditionally romantic. It has 8 lines in the rhyming scheme abaaabab. The first two lines (ab) and the last two lines(ab) are the same, as well as the first line and the fourth. (Bianca) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Betrayal of the Red Rose A single red rose bloomed in my vase. It arrived with the sweetest kiss. Fragrant and soft and full of love’s grace, A single red rose bloomed in my vase. The witness of our ardent embrace, Blushing red rose, viewing love’s bliss. A single red rose bloomed in my vase. It arrived with the sweetest kiss. 'Twas sadly faded on the next day, Like love’s false-hearted enchantment. Mankind is made of softened clay. 'Twas sadly faded on the next day, Wilted by careless lies that betray. The petals plummeted, thusly spent. 'Twas sadly faded on the next day, Like love’s false-lived enchantment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
