Love is precious, but it's also difficult, and it has it moments of insanity.

The Dying Heart

Oh, darkest deprivation

hide me from this sensory deluge.

Keep me from the noxious memories

brought forth from a creaking door,

the smell of lemon,

or my name spoken softly,

as he used to say it.

The day holds only torture.

Its brightness shines on tears.

And there is agony in working

where he might suddenly appear.

Let the day whimper into submission.

Permit the fragrance of nightfall to beckon.

Then once more I'll take

a steadier breath

where no one can see

the dying of my heart.
