US, SUPERPOWER!

[The shame of prisoner abuse]

O US, superpower!
You are verily great;
You rule land and sea and the unending air space.

But, just a doubt creeps in my mind.
Are you able to rule
By your acts the hearts of those
You rule by sheer might?

Guantanamo
Or, Abu Ghraib
Are clear testimonies.
Those naked pictures so say:
“The US might can bend bodies
Of men who have been chained
So as to simulate orgies
In front of your
Ferocious dogs,
Laughing soldiers,
Tugging the leash around men’s neck.
But it can’t bend the will.”

The history of man testifies
That as long as the will survives,
Bodies be chained;
Men killed and maimed;
Yet the will can’t be drained.

And,
A day comes when innate will thrives;
A day comes when the vanquished strikes;
A day comes when a Superpower,
In front of the meek, does cower.

* Inmates in Guantanamo Bay prison were infamously interrogated/tortured.

* Abu Ghraib was the biggest US prison in Iraq for interrogation/torture of Iraq citizens taken prisoner.

* Photographs released in press show US soldiers torturing naked men, watched and jeered by women soldiers, pulling at leash around their neck, aided by fierce dogs.
