WHEN I SHALL PASS BY: a sonnet


A day will come when I too shall pass by.
No longer will my shadow haunt the world.
To meet my dear ones however I try,
Will be something impossible, unheard.

I know not where I shall henceforth be gone,
Nor what in nether world would be my fate.
Shall I forever in hell fire be thrown?
Or, shall I albeit enter heaven’s gate?

Whatever be the fate I need not dwell
In future while living in the present.
For miles I have to go before I tell:
My time is up, the Lord has for me sent.

Lord I have tried my best to do your bid.
With faith in you, I have done all I did.
