My Inner Dreams

Slipping into sleep

Isn’t

Necessary for glimpsing dreams.

Imaginings

Grow forests in my mind

Where ferns are wishes and leafy trees are plans.

The path

Which lies beneath procrastination and disbelief

Navigates me through my doubts

And winds me

Around can’ts, would's and should's.

Each day I meander through this woodsy nursery

Kissing, hugging, and swinging all my sleepy, baby dreams

Who cry when I have to depart.

I hush them and sing lullabies filled with promises

Of the future.
