Inside Me
Inside me are the dreams, the images, the ideas of life . . .

Inside Me

Fireworks breathe strong inside me.
I fight them down and force them silent,
But they push and heave to rise.

I run the city blocks to soothe their burn,
Letting out dragon roars and fiery breath,
With laughter rolling down my tongue.

Others do not notice. They are closed.
Their eyes are rolling sockets of yawns;
Perhaps they sleep instead of live.

Someday I shall let my dreams all out
And sing a tapestry of lights.
Then the world will see my shine.

But for now I cover my eyes and lips,
Lest others see the passion I hide,
For I’m not ready to glow my thoughts.

So I study hard and reach for answers;
I dance on the edge of ideas, because I know
That fireworks breathe strong inside me.
