Breathing in the Fire
Autumn starts school.
My students arrive trembling, shy.
They can barely read books, and they count their fingers.
Then I teach them how exciting that learning can be, and they grow.
Autumn lights fires.
Autumn leaves fall,
But in my class we study them
We collect their amber, bronzed, and scarlet wrappings,
Displaying them like artworks of Picasso, Rembrandt, and Renoir.
Autumn stokes fires.
Autumn brings joy.
School has just begun and time breathes.
It smells of freshness and ample moments of life.
So we inhale it, and watch our senses form dragons in the air.
Autumn flames fires.
