_____________

On the Fourth of July, when all is so grand
I wake up and get ready for a day on the sand
Mommy and Daddy take forever to pack us a picnic
And it’s all I can do not to get into a panic

The drive to the beach is a lovely sight to see
The red, white and blue as bright as can be
On every lawn, gate and home that we pass
We wave and cheer and wish them a blast

Daddy decides to make a quick detour
He promises it won’t take more than an hour
We make a stop at a different kind of sea
White crosses as far as the eye can see

There are families silent among the graves
As Mommy holds my hand, saying be brave
For these men lying beneath the ground
Gave us our freedom to enjoy and be proud

So let's fire up those grills
And have us a day full of thrills
For it’s no time to be bland
On the Fourth of July, when all is so grand.
