Introducing Our Newest Item Type!
Hello, Members!

We hope you're having a great summer, sizzling with creativity. Writing.Com has
a hot new Item Type to introduce!

:: Introducing The Quiz Item ::
We're excited to announce the newest item type available on Writing.Com...
         the Quiz

There are two different types of quizzes that can be created:
         Correct Scoring and Weighted Scoring.

A Correct Scoring quiz is like a traditional multiple choice test. Each question can
have up to 7 answer choices, with one of those being the correct answer. Those who
take the quiz are scored based on how many of their answers are correct.

A Weighted Scoring quiz is similar to those found in magazines. Each question
has multiple answers and each answer has a different weight, generally from 1 to 7.
Once completed, the answer weights are totaled and the quiz taker is shown where
their results fall within a scale.

Here's an example for each type of quiz:
*Star* "Example Quiz: Writing.Com History Trivia [ASR] by The StoryMaster
An example quiz about Writing.Com that uses Correct Scoring.
*Star* "Example Quiz: How Happy Are You? [ASR] by The StoryMaster
This is an example quiz using Weighted Scoring.

In both cases, the owner of the Quiz creates custom responses to be shown to
those who take the quiz. Each response is shown based on where the person's results
fall within a percentage scale, from 0% to 100%. The percentage scale is automatically
determined based on how many responses the owner has set up.

For example, if the owner has set up the quiz to have two responses, one response is
shown to those who get 50% or better and the other is shown to those with a score
of less than 50%. A quiz with three responses shows a different one for each 33.3%
of scoring, while four responses has one for each 25% of correctness. Each Quiz
can have an unlimited amount of custom responses!

Quiz items have a few other options, including the ability to provide a publicly viewable
scoreboard, non-public result logging and quiz bank creation. A quiz bank is a
quiz that contains more questions than it shows to viewers. "A Trivial Challenge
is an example quiz bank with 400 questions, of which only 10 are shown at a time.

The introduction of Quizzes gives Writing.Com members an incredible 20 different
item types for their portfolio (21 if you count Product Reviews)! Even better, any
member of Writing.Com can create a Quiz, including those with Free Memberships!
If you'd like instructions on creating a new quiz, we suggest reading the following
