Love is precious, but it's also difficult, and it has it moments of insanity.

Conversing With My Sister

A dreamer spreads out her hope chest of ideals.

Writer's Cramp prompt: Write a dodoitsu poem: That follows the following pattern:
Line 1: 7 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 7 syllables
Line 4: 5 syllables

Note: My apologies, MEN. I don't know where this came from. I hope it's not true.

Conversing With My Sister

My dear sister seemed caught up
In cinema illusion.
She spoke about the actors
Like friends or lovers.

"Which one is the sexiest?"
She wanted my opinion.
I shuddered at the question,
Then gave my response.

"What I look for in a man
Is not in his appearance,
But that something inside him,
His solid gold core.

"A man should value humor
Not the conventional type:
Jokes about fat folks and blondes;
He'd never give pain.

"He would be someone who speaks
In multisyllabic words,
Whose visions are future plans,
Centered by beliefs.

"Sexy would never matter
If he were a man who cared,
Who treated love like a book,
Treasuring each page.

Movie stars need not apply,"
I enlightened my sister.
"Only a man with honor,
Who reads and ponders."

My sister raised her eyebrows.
"That's impossible," she said.
"There aren't any men like that."
I nodded and sighed.
