Sonnet to Christmas
Christmas is the season for good cheer.

                    Sonnet to Christmas

See evergreen trees with large silver balls

Glistening and glowing with bright colored lights,

Small sprigs of mistletoe -- out in the hall,

Decorative tinsels in red, green, and white,

Apple cider brews with cinnamon spice,

Candy canes eaten with gingerbread cake.

Santa's reindeer and the nutcracker mice

Snow drifts and snowballs, an ice skating lake.

The sounds of tissue and small tinkling bells,

Carolers singing their Christmas greetings,

Hot chestnuts are cracking, waiting to sell,

Everywhere folks are rushing to meetings.

They come together for one main reason --

To share the joy this holiday season.
