Animals on New Year's Eve
This is what animals do on New Year's Eve, I think.

Animals on New Year’s Eve

It’s not easy to say how animals celebrate New Year’s Eve,
But I think they wait until people are partied out.
Then they gather together, and they snort and hiss
And snicker about how silly we look.
Or maybe they hoot and holler,
Or croon and caw,
Or snicker and howl,
But, I bet they look at each other
And laugh.

I wish I could say how animals celebrate New Year’s Eve.
I think they gather round and talk about us,
Bragging about how much better they are than humans,
Mocking us in great delight.

For people get drunk and swagger about,
And then they crawl into their cars and crash.
Humans throw up in the bushes
And weep because they’ve made fools of themselves.
Then the next day they get up real late,
And they moan and they groan in pain.

So I think that’s how animals celebrate New Year’s Eve,
Because this morning,

N e w    Y e a r’ s    D a y,

I found my cat still snoring.

She hasn't moved yet,

And she has a most curious smile on her face.

So I only suppose this is what animals do.

It’s what I would do if I were she.

This cat has just caught his feather. Water color.
