Essence
The Essence, created by Emily Romano is a short, structured form of two-lines,
six syllables each with an end rhyme and internal rhyme. Elephant Seal

Eight-ette
The eight-ette has eight lines. The syllable count increases one syllable each line: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 It does have a rhyme scheme of a-b-a-b-c-d-c-d. A possible variation of the rhyme scheme is a-a-b-b-c-c-d-d. Elephant Seal

Septolet
The Septolet is a poem consisting of seven lines containing fourteen words with a break in between the two parts. Both parts deal with the same thought and create a picture. Sailfish

Teacup Dictionary
In a teacup dictionary poem the dictionary word is the title. Each following line must define the word, but drops one syllable per line, starting with the first line descending until there is a one syllable word that defines the dictionary word. The final line must have the same number of syllables as the dictionary word and makes an observation about the dictionary word or the preceding lines. The poem is usually centered on the page. The teacup dictionary poem was created by Rose Jones in 2009. Diminishing Tide

Haiku
The Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry, usually about nature. It contains three lines, with the syllable structure of 5, 7, 5 Horseshoe Crabs

Etheree
The Etheree, consists of 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables. Etheree can also be reversed and written 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Reversed Etheree: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Double Etheree: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Triple Etheree, Quadruple Etheree, and so on! Emperor Shrimp

Run-on Fibs
Fib stanzas are based upon the Fibonacci sequence. 1+1=2. 1+2 = 3. 2+3=5. 3+5=8. The stanzas follow this syllable structure 1-1-2-3-5-8. Fib stanzas can be centered or left justified. Right Whales?

Limerick
A Limerick is a rhymed humorous or nonsense poem of five lines which originated in Limerick, Ireland. The Limerick has a set rhyme scheme of : a-a-b-b-a with a syllable structure of: 9-9-6-6-9.
The rhythm of the poem should go as follows:
Lines 1, 2, 5: weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak
Lines 3, 4: weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak, STRONG, weak, weak. Myrtle the Turtle

Ya-Du
The Ya-Du is another Burmese form, a kind of overgrown Than-Bauk with aspirations to haiku-ishness. Each stanza - there should not be more than three of them - has 5 lines, of which the first four have 4 syllables each, and the last can have 5, 7, 9 or 11. The last two lines rhyme in the conventional way. There is climbing rhyme in syllables 4, 3 and 2 of both the first 3 lines and the last 3 lines e.g. in the first stanza here, days/amazing/laze and about/without/devout. And, as with a haiku, there should be references to the seasons. Yellow Racing Stripes

Naga-Uta
The Naga- Uta alternates lines of 5 and 7syllables. Can rhyme or not. Narwhal

Nonet
The nonet has nine lines. Can be unrhymed or rhymed. Flush left or centered.

Harrisham-
The harrisham has six lines with a rhyme scheme of a, b, a, b, a, b. The last letter of the first word in a line is the first letter of the first word in the following line. Red Lionfish

Oddquain Butterflies
The Oddquain Butterflies are usually unrhymed, with one or more stanzas. Each stanza’s syllable structure is 1,3,5,7,1,7,5,3,1. The poem should be centered. Garden Eels

Utendi-
The Utendi is a narrative poem written in any number of quatrains. Each line has eight syllables. It is rhymed – aaab cccb dddb eeeb…. Make a Difference

Grammar Poem
The Grammar poem uses a transitional word, subject, and verb for the first four lines of a stanza ending with a comma. The fifth line in the stanza is a complete sentence bringing the thoughts of the first four lines together. Rhyme or meter is not required. Parrot Fish

Hexadaud
A Hexadaud consists of 12 lines. The syllable count is 2,2,6,6,8,8,4,4,6,6,4,4 with a rhyme scheme of aa, bb, cc, dd, ee, ff. Giant Puffer Fish
