Forgetting
We were swamped in silence.
Green like grass. Or maybe blue like sky.
Little dangers lurked in the forgetting.
Words left our heads without being spoken.
It was small and old, like ourselves.
That much we knew for certain.
Two steps to the right, an urgent, angry pause –
how could we find one car in a sea of metal?
