There is a silence
at the center of everything.

TROUBLE CAT, PUBIC LICE, CIA

The idler wheel is wiser
than the driver of the screw
and whipping cords
will serve you more
than ropes will ever do.

RUB, PIT, BITE, LIAR

And finally, we are no one.

TIP, TAP, PAT, TILT

Author's note: The second stanza is the title of a CD by Fiona Apple. The words in capitals are anagrams of letters in my name.
