The book that I have read over and over again

The North and The South by John Jakes

Oh my goodness, this book is so fantastic - all his works are. The action, the emotion, and the description of the battles and the aftermath of them is fantastic. One can almost see themselves in the midst.
He has a way of drawing you inside the characters. I even cried when Scout, the main horse character got killed.
If I could write like him I would be the happiest person alive.
The Kent Family Chronicles is another must read.
