Story Time: Oh, No! I left my favorite...
The September 10, 2013 prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum is
Oh, No! I left my favorite (something) behind: I just can't believe I did that. Please finish this with a story or a poem.

Oh, No! I left my favorite PJs behind: I just can't believe I did that. I left my lucky purple pajamas lying in a basket of clean clothes in sitting on top of the washer in the kitchen-laundry room. I know precisely where they are because when I took the clothes out of the dryer, I made sure to put them on top so that I could grab them when I packed this morning.

My purple pajamas protect me,
They generate an invisible shield
Against the fears of my unconscious mind.

All right, it is my own fault! I should have started packing four days ago and then I would have packed them and anything else I might have forgotten (but won't find out until I get to my destination). I know that I can purchase a pair of PJs in any department store, but those were special. They were lucky because whenever I take them with me on a trip, I always arrive safely at my destination. When I wear them to bed, I always have a good nights sleep and wake up rested in the morning. Without my purple, actually more of a plum, pajamas I cannot sleep in strange beds and wake up rested the next day. I always toss and turn. I always wake up at the slightest noise and think there are intruders in my room, but when I wear these pajamas to bed I am protected from the night fears that haunt me in strange cities.

I forgot my purple pajamas,
I forgot my author's uniform.

How can I write without my pajamas? My muse will not recognize me. When I wear only my pajama bottoms I can write 2,000 words. When I wear only my pajama top I can write 2,000 words. Do you suppose I could write 4,000 words if I wore both halves at the same time?

Thought of the Day: "When I was in fourth grade, a novelist came to talk to my English class. She told us that being an author meant sitting at the kitchen table in pajamas, drinking tea with the dogs at your feet." - J. Courtney Sullivan
