In a World Without Electricity
The October 3. 2013 prompt "Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt Forum is
All of the power in the world goes out, including car engines. What changes in your life and how do you survive without electricity?

In a world without electricity,
there is still the power of faith,
of love,
of human ingenuity
and imagination.

In a world without electricity,
will poet's write odes to hot showers
and indoor toilets?

In a world without electricity,
humanity learns to cope,
to live,
without technological devices
and to use the proximity
of another human being
to keep warm
on freezing winter nights.

In a world without electricity,
we dig latrines,
build bonfires,
cut wood for cooking our meals,
and curse
the lack of indoor plumbing.

In a world without electricity,
we station soldiers
around libraries
to protect the precious books
from illiterate looters.

In a world without electricity,
nations go back
to using powder and ball
or bows and arrows
to fight their wars.

In a world without electricity,
movie stars,
professional athletes,
and paparazzi
are forced to find new occupations.

In a world without electricity,
humanity returns
to hunting and gathering,
while story-tellers
sing the praises
and proclaim the marvels
of our lost utopia.

In a world without electricity,
there is still the power of faith,
of love,
of human ingenuity
and imagination.

Thought of the Day: "Imagination has brought mankind through the dark ages to its present state of civilization. Imagination led Columbus to discover America. Imagination led Franklin to discover electricity." - L. Frank Baum
