My week in Review: Dawdling and a Cashless Society
Last week was an interesting week. I spent some of it dawdling, but the entire week was not wasted. I accomplished all the "October Novel Prep Challenge before they were due, all though I had to get up early this morning to complete the story in order to submit it before 8:59 Pacific time today. I seemed to run out of steam on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning and I begin to dawdle. As a result, I did not accomplish my word count goal for two days.

I went to the grocery store on Friday to pick up a few things, while I was out I stopped at the bank and the gas station. I think I should have purchased more then $20.00 worth of gas, but that is all I withdrew from the bank. I use my debit card when I go to the grocery store and to the pharmacy because I have difficulty keeping track of cash. I am 66 years old, I will be 67 in December, you would think that by now I would be able to keep track of the cash I spend. That is not the case, unless I use a debit card, write a check, or take a specific amount out of the bank for gas. If I carry cash with me all the time, I do not know where I spend it. I suspect I would be better off living in a cashless society because I would know where my money went.

I need to to less dawdling this week because I have a lot more house cleaning to do between writing exercises. I seem to write, work, and feel better if I have something to focus my mind and thoughts. I think the old saying about idle hands being the devil's workshop was wrong. I think it is an unfocused mind that is the problem, at least it is with me. If I do not focus on something then my imagination runs away with me and I image all sorts of things.
