Saddest Event
Prompt: As this year comes to an end, choose one of the following events that happened this year. Saddest event, most exciting, most surprising, happy event or something that you wish would happen.

I hate to report my sad event this year but I had two hernias, three bowel obstructions and had one complicated surgery for this on July 23. My body went through a severe event. I was on a breathing tube and heavily sedated for five days. I was in ICU for two weeks and Rehab for two weeks. The Doctor wasn't sure if I was going to live the first two days. When I woke up, my family told me what happened and I talked like Mickey Mouse. After two days, I was talking like normal but having problems remembering what happened before surgery. My family helped me with this but there are still some things that I will never remember before the surgery. I had to learn to walk again and that was hard. I can't go up and down more then six steps and I can't walk up curves. I was on a Wound Vac and walked with a walker and I slowly recovered. My abdomen healed slowly but I have been back to work since October 15. I still have problems but I am walking on my own and have been off the Wound Vac for three months almost. I don't wish this problem on anyone. I had a supportive family and friends and I don't know what I would have done without them. I hope to move forward and never have problems like this again. I thank God every day for letting me survive my ordeal. I cherish each day. My job in mental health can be difficult but there are good moments. I am already for 2014. I hope it will be a beautiful year for all of us.
