These poems are about the strength of humanity and its weakness. They carve our image. |
The following poem is for the Writer’s Cramp: 24 hours to write a poem or story (40 lines or less/ 1,000 words or less) The Prompt: Gérard Lenorman sang once: Si j'étais president, de la Republique... mentioning the things he would change if he was president of the French Republic. I find this theme inspiring. So: if you were president of the United States or any other republic you live in: What would you change? Into the future where things are a bit different: If I Were President ~~ If I were the president of new Global Space, Every soul would have a well-earned place. Those in hues, whether cerulean or green, Would all be engaged in a merry routine. It wouldn’t matter if folks smelled of chlorine Or stared through eyes orange as carotene. I’d demand equal pay for all the bovines, For the whiskered and tailed-like felines. Whether standing, flying, or slithering about Not one single soul would have more clout. Imagine the peace this kingdom would know Where manners were all you’d need to show. “Greetings, Being,“ each would say to the other, And kindness would spread from brother to brother. No matter gender, antennae, scales, or hue, Joy would abound in this kind of venue. What a pleasant universe that would all bring on. Grins for each orifice, glad grunts dusk to dawn Equality for all would be truly commonplace, If only I were president of new Global Space. ~~~ |
