NaPoWriMo Poems for 2015

Early Spring Rains

No gentle shower is this
Freezing rain hangs in tassels off the barbecue cover.
Thunder rips the sky in two
Lightening shears the fabric and sends it ablaze with white light.
Rain pelts the earth with vicious, cold fists.
Wind howls and flips anything in its path.
The day is angry and hangs in dark ominous clouds.
I want to stay inside and not venture out, but I know I must.
Responsibility pulls me from my cozy hole
And forces me out into the elements.
To walk amongst the sodden souls
That venture out beyond security.
