Galena Guardian
30-Day Image Prompt.

Galena Gaurdian

My angel's wings are heavy
and gray.
What once was silver
has turned to lead.
Even this sad balloon
cannot carry me to heaven
and I sit looking down
on the life, and the friends
I left behind.

I thought ending it would
change things,
would be a new beginning for them
an ending to my sorrow
and the final solution to
our mutual suffering

But none of us can forget
and death is not the end
and all of the problems remain.

I am a galena guardian
I am their angel now
It is my penance
I must watch the pain I caused.
I feel their sorrow more deeply
their joy more profoundly.

But now I have renewed purpose
and the power to help them live again
without me.
I can soar with the wind
and dive with the birds
I speak to them in their dreams
and tell them I am fine
and so are they
I watch them smile
and move on with their lives
and give them pieces of myself
I never knew I had.

But on days like this
my angel's wings are heavy
and turn to lead

I am a galena guardian
