Day 65: Sarah continues her story
I had never met Grisylde, although I had seen her once or twice at the edges of the village. Some people said she was crazy. Some seemed to be afraid of her. Most people said to stay away from her. At this point, I had nothing left to lose. If she was crazy or she was dangerous, she couldn’t be any worse than what I had suffered at the hands of the villagers. I ate like I hadn’t eaten in days. I guess I really hadn’t. She lay some blankets out, and the next thing I knew I had awakened in this makeshift bed. My clothes, now dry, were neatly folded next to me. It took me a bit to realize where I was. I’m not sure how long I had slept, but given that my clothes had been fairly wet when I was wearing them, I guessed that it must be the next day.
